I learned a lot more about hockey injuries and how they work, for example I learned about MCL tears and now I know how it works and about symptoms, diagnoses, treatment and prevention. I also learned about my abilities to work efficiently, after all my procrastination and getting COVID-19 I was able to put my head down and get my capstone and presentation done. I learned that I have a lot more potential in me if I was able to stop procrastinating and tried a bit more.
My project is the agglomeration of things that are important to me, I have been playing hockey since I was a kid and it has done so much for me, health is one of my biggest priorities and is what is making me want to study health science. I also like to teach other and learn new things so a research project where I get to educate others means a lot to me. It is relevant to kids in my school who play sports or are interested in health science both P.E. and science teachers could use it as a tool. It is public on YouTube so anyone can view it and learn new things. My capstone had a positive impact on me as it taught me new lessons and I learned more about myself. When I was procrastinating, I had pushed it back to the last week of spring break when I got covid. This taught me to do my work right away while I have the time and energy because you never know what can pop up later on in life. I also learned about my work ethic and ability to work efficiently; I was able to get it done in a lot less time than others had while catching up in another class. I was most proud of the end result, being able to see my videos and a platform which I’m very familiar with, it's like seeing myself on TV! I’m very proud of my videos and I think they went exactly as planned. I’m also proud of myself for getting it all done in time. I had two difficulties first it was procrastination then getting COVID-19, after that it was a race against time to finish my project. After all I went through, I overcame these obstacles by staying focused and not letting stress get the best of me. I wish I was able to get more work done earlier so I could make more videos because I think they would have just gotten better and better. Advice for future Capstone students is to not procrastinate and be lazy, because it is a lot of work and having it at the last minute is stressful. Also choose something that you will enjoy because it will make the work easier as it won't really feel like work.

So far I have completely finished all of the research and scripts, I have successfully finished a video as well. All that's left is to film and edit the last two videos. For the evidence I have posted all of the notes and scripts I have done. I don't have a lot of time to do the next two videos but now that i have done one I think the next to should go quicker. So far the most rewarding part has been seeing one of my videos completed and posted on YouTube!
I had some unexpected delays with my project, as I had contracted Covid-19. So far I have done all of my research and I have done a script of one of the videos. I need to finish the other two scripts which shouldn't be an issue. I also need to start filming the videos then editing it together, this part should be easy but a bit time consuming. My strengths that are helping me through this is my ability to focus and get things done once I start the hard part is to start working and stop procrastinating.
My plan is to get a start on my first video before spring break then use the break to my advantage and try to fully finish two videos in that time and more if I can then finish it off the first week back from the break. I'm hoping to have most of my research done before spring break then I can just work on the videos themselves over the break. the way I will provide proof to my work is I will have a research doc for each topic then a script for each one then a picture of me filming and editing.
The draft proposal we did helped me put my ideas, pen to paper. Writing it all down and organizing my ideas showed me what worked and what didn't. Through the proposal I was able to get a solidified plan on my project and I'm feeling less stressed about it now. Moving forward I must make sure I stay on task and manage my time well. To do this I will have to spread out my work on days I'm not busy and get some work done. This will make me feel less overwhelmed which causes me to procrastinate. Right now I need to start working on it for one and once I do I really have to work on not procrastinating. I think if I space it out well enough with less work to do each time, even if I miss a day I still wont have too much work piling up. If I'm feeling up to it I will try and do more work so the next day I wont have as much work.
So far I have handed in all of my work and got my website up and running. I learned about my personality which was surprisingly accurate. The personality test actually helped me pick careers that relate to me a bit better and made me feel more confidant with my choices. I figured out what I will do for my project, I will make educational videos about common hockey injuries, the physiology behind it and how to treat the injury. Now I just have to make my proposal draft and get started on my project.
I don't have any specific idea yet but thats okay. I want to do something related to health science, from sports to the human body. I would like to do the research or project strain because with my topic it is more feasible. Rather than the events or occupational strains which would be difficult during the pandemic. I love science and being active so something related to health science is a no brainer on the other hand deciding on what topic to choose is hard. I was thinking something to do with sport related injuries and build a diagram of some sorts to go with it or something to do with diet and how foods effect our body. At the end of the day it's not the topic but what to actually do for my project is the complicated part.
